"So the fact that campaigns are allowed to pay the candidate’s business raises those concerns. While legal, it creates kind of a negative impression of the election system." Ohio Republican U.S. Senate candidate Bernie Moreno's campaign spent $109,000 on "event catering" at Mar-a-Lago in April, December and January of 2023, records show. Moreno won the primary in March and will face three-term Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown in November.

“When voters see something like this happening it contributes to their distrust of the political system and their elected officials' motives,” said Shanna Ports, senior legal counsel with the Campaign Legal Center, a nonprofit government accountability group. “Tragic, when a life is lost so senselessly, a life that was full of hope and promise. Trump is funneling campaign money into cash-strapped businesses. Experts say it looks bad.

"This is a great place to get ready for Augusta," six-time major champion Mickelson said. "It gives you an opportunity to get momentum if you play well but also gives you a chance to play every shot you're going to need into Augusta.

Spending money on legal issues is not unusual for a campaign, but campaign finance experts say Trump has pushed the boundaries of what is allowable. The primary thing Trump’s businesses need to do is charge his campaign and PACs the same amount they would charge any other paying customer for the services. But there’s also an ethical question of whether the campaign and PACs could get a better deal somewhere else.

"Seems like your misses go in the right spots and feels like the next week your misses go in the wrong spots. It's worked out in my favor over those couple years and those couple moments." Given the layoff, Watson, a two-time Masters champion, cited NCAA Final Four underdog NC State in emphasizing the importance of LIV Golf players performing well individually this weekend. Six Masters champions — Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Rahm, Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed, Sergio Garcia and Charl Schwartzel — are among those competing in this weekend's LIV Golf event. The Blue Monster's distance will be the most significant difference compared with LIV Golf's first events of 2024.

With Augusta National Golf Club touting a 7,555-yardage this year — and an extra round compared with LIV Golf's format — golfers such as five-time major champion Brooks Koepka said they'd be honing themselves individually this week. DORAL — LIV Golf may be attempting to build the future with its focus on team golf but for many players this weekend's Miami event seems to have restored a historic South Florida stop in Masters Tournament preparation. Trump has been hit with a pair of large financial judgements after losing two civil lawsuits.

Other GOP candidates also have been spending considerable campaign cash at Trump properties. The payments Trump’s campaign has made to his businesses are small compared to his large court-ordered financial judgements, but have been growing in recent months. A PAC called Giuliani Defense spent $2,400 on fundraising expenses and food at Trump's golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey in January. Trump hosted a fundraiser for Rudy Giuliani at Bedminster in September to help with the former New York mayor's legal costs, which stem in part from the criminal charges Giuliani faces in Fulton County, Georgia, for trying to help Trump overturn the 2020 election. Federal law and FEC regulations allow donor funds to be spent at a candidate’s business so long as the campaign pays fair market value, experts say.

Briffault said the only comparable political candidate with such a sprawling business may be former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who ran for president as a Democrat, but even then, they’re not an exact comparison. Lawsuits accusing Trump of violating the emoluments clauses in the Constitution during his presidency were unsuccessful. Critics said those seeking to influence Trump's administration funneled money into his businesses, including a hotel near the White House in Washington, D.C. Another fundraiser at Trump National Doral in March was hosted by former Ambassador Carlos Trujillo, with the money benefiting the Make America Great Again, Inc. super PAC. Nevada U.S. Senate candidate Jim Marchant's campaign spent about $67,000 at Mar-a-Lago on "event venue rental and catering" in November and December. Trump backed Marchant in his unsuccessful bid to be Nevada's secretary of state in 2022.

Trump hosted a party at Mar-a-Lago on March 5 with a large group of supporters to watch the Super Tuesday primary election results from 16 states. He also held a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago in October that drew hundreds of supporters, including U.S. Reps Marjorie Taylor Green and Byron Donalds, Texas attorney general Ken Paxton and the actress Roseanne Barr. The bulk of the campaign spending at Trump's properties since the start of 2023 — $663,000 — has been at Mar-a-Lago, and most of it occurred in February. Questions about how Trump’s businesses have benefited from his political career have swirled around him throughout the former president’s three campaigns and his four years in the White House. Trump lists TAG Air, Inc among his assets on his latest financial disclosure required of presidential candidates, with a value of between $5 million and $25 million.

Trump has been doing it for years, shifting millions in campaign cash into his sprawling business empire to pay for expenses such as using his personal aircraft for political events, rent at Trump Tower and events at his properties, which has included hotels and private clubs. While the practice is legal, some campaign finance experts believe it raises ethical concerns when a candidate is generating personal revenue off running for office. America Democracy Legal Fund filed a complaint with the FEC in 2016 alleging “Mr. Trump is using funds from his presidential campaign to further his business and personal interests." The complaint was dismissed, but concerns remain in the minds of some campaign finance experts. "People should be running for office because they want to serve the public, not because they want to enrich themselves," Ports said.

The Trump campaign and affiliated political committees paid businesses owned by Trump at least $4.9 million since the start of 2023, according to an analysis by USA TODAY. Since days after the 2020 election, the leadership PAC Save America spent more than $72.5 million on legal bills to many of the same firms that are representing him in his civil and criminal cases. That fund accounts for the bulk of his legal spending, but his affiliated committees have spent millions more. Trump's leadership PAC also has been spending vast sums on attorneys as the president faces four criminal cases. He currently is on trial in New York City in a case involving alleged payments to an adult film star during the 2016 presidential campaign to keep her quiet about an alleged sexual affair. Trump's various campaign committees and a super PAC controlled by his supporters also spent at least $809,000 at his properties since the beginning of last year.

The funeral was preached by a Presbyterian Pastor from Nashville, standing on the front porch to a great concourse of people. His body was then taken by a military company and borne to the garden and placed beside his wife in a vault that he had prepared. A military salute was then fired and we left him there to rest in peace, to await the great resurrection morn. The funeral in 1845 drew thousands to his Tennessee home, known as The Hermitage, where he was buried.

The author endeavored to collect complete documents referencing the president, his state papers, and other miscellaneous items, and reproduce it in a series of volumes as a way to study that period of American history. To determine the veracity of the claim, we looked closely at any firsthand accounts about Poll, the parrot. According to Dan Feller, professor of history at the University of Tennessee and editor at "The Papers of Andrew Jackson" project, Jackson bought the parrot for his wife, Rachel, for $25 through the Nashville firm of Decker & Dyer on June 5, 1827. Rachel died in 1828, however, and Poll remained at The Hermitage. We have found only one eyewitness account of the potty-mouthed parrot mentioned in a letter decades after Jackson's funeral.

A representative from the collections department of the Hermitage told us that after the funeral, Poll was likely cared for by remaining family members at The Hermitage, given that Jackson's adoptive grandchildren referenced the parrot in an 1850 letter. The claim has been repeated on the YouTube account connected to the official museum for Jackson's home, as well as by the cast of "Hamilton"—a musical about the founding fathers of the United States. But it was Poll, his beloved parrot, that allegedly drew unwanted attention at the funeral by swearing like a sailor. According to one post, "President Andrew Jackson taught his pet parrot to curse. The bird was later kicked out of the former president's funeral for swearing during the service, according to one Jackson biographer." Sandy and Jack discuss his moving in, of which eleven-year-old Ben (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) does not approve despite his mother’s reassurance that it’s only a trial period.

After meeting a boy named Norman Bronski at school, Ben feigns interest in joining the Indian Guides – a father-son “tribe” called the Minotauks – with Jack to secretly drive a wedge between them and get rid of him. Despite reluctance, Jack goes along with it at Sandy’s insistence. Neither of them like the club, but Ben manages to effectively humiliate Jack at the meetings. Once it starts interfering with his job, Jack tells Sandy he can no longer be part of it. Ben fakes distress by this and compares it to his father leaving to turn Sandy against her boyfriend.

The transition does not go smoothly for Ben, as he resentfully feels he is the one suffering all of the adjustments and that his mother is making the same mistake she made with his father, so he resorts to ensuring Jack is as uncomfortable and unwelcome as possible. Jack tries taking the subterfuge in stride, not realizing it is deliberate, but his efforts to connect with the boy are met with irritation as he only succeeds in disrupting Ben’s customary lifestyle. In 1993, IHOP introduced the first major addition to its menu since the 1980s, unveiling Country Griddle Cakes in September 1993, pairing itself with Nabisco, whose Cream of Wheat product was a primary ingredient in the pancakes. The partnership between the two companies came on IHOP's 35th anniversary and on Nabisco's 100th, and provided each with an excellent advertising opportunity. The new pancake was supported by television spots featuring Cliff, who promoted the new IHOP product as well as Nabisco's Cream of Wheat. Furthermore, almost 20 million coupons offering a free stack of Country Griddle Cakes with the purchase of an IHOP entree were distributed on Nabisco Cream of Wheat boxes across the country. Every $5 spent is worth one PanCoin, and one PanCoin is worth one pancake. Guests can also trade their PanCoins in the “Stack Market” for use on other assets, including menu items and merchandise.

Herzer was named IHOP's chief executive and chairman in 1983 and began the long process of restructuring IHOP in order to position the restaurant chain as a dominant presence in the family restaurant business. First, the company assessed the financial well-being of each of its restaurant units, ultimately closing the unprofitable ones and beginning a refurbishing program for the rest. Slowly but steadily, the company began remodeling the 88-seat, A-frame units, making way for larger and more contemporary units with twice the seating capacity and a muted decor that was deemed more pleasant for family dining. Unit renovations often also included the implementation of a double-galley kitchen, which consisted of two identical smaller-scale kitchens, one of which could be closed down during slow periods in order to avoid excessive operation expenses. THE 25 BEST Cruises from Florida to Jamaica with Prices on Cruise Critic

cruise to jamaica from florida

Explore some of Florida’s busy, modern cities, quiet beach towns, and beautiful natural areas. In Ocho Rios, you can swim in the sparkling Iris Blue Hole or climb to the top of Konoko Falls. Another day at sea follows, during which guests can enjoy this modern, elegant ship with a casino, a spa, kids' and teens' clubs, restaurants, and bars. The next stop is Cartagena, a UNESCO World Heritage site with cobblestone streets and pastel-colored buildings, followed by Colón, Panama. At the next port of call, Puerto Limón, Costa Rica, guests get the day to explore and take a boat adventure through the jungle, looking for crocodiles, monkeys, and manatees.

What is the best time to cruise to Jamaica?

Jamaica's best cruise season is mid-December to April, during months that have the best weather and driest skies for beach lounging and shore excursions. Hang out with stingrays in Grand Cayman, snorkel coral reefs in Labadee, Haiti, and splash around in the waterfalls at Jamaica's Dunn's River Falls. You'll be able to use much of your Caribbean cruise wardrobe while you're vacationing in Florida — sandals, bathing suits, cover-ups and breezy linen. No matter where in the Sunshine State you travel, the best family beaches in Florida are never far. Relish the electric atmosphere of South Beach and Fort Lauderdale Beach, or enjoy the secluded shores of Cape San Blas.

Night Transcanal Cruise

During days at sea, Sirena keeps up to 648 guests entertained with a pool, theater, casino, and spa, as well as a wide variety of restaurants and an afternoon tea tradition. Travel from Panama City to Miami on Oceania Cruises' Sirena, stopping along the South American coast along the way. The first stop after a day of sailing through the Panama Canal is Cartagena, Colombia, where cruise-goers can hop off the ship to see mansions and a historic fort. The following day is dedicated to Santa Marta, Colombia's oldest city. Hike up Dunns River Falls, one of Jamaica’s most popular natural attractions and one of the only travertine waterfalls in the world to fall directly into the sea.

When it comes to dream vacations, an Ocho Rios cruise has to be near the top of the list.

Local genres such as reggae, ska, dub, and dancehall are famous around the world. In 1655, the British attacked Jamaica, and Spain eventually surrendered the island to England. Jamaican cuisine ranges from mild to wild, a result of its British, Spanish, and African influences.

Avoid cruising the Caribbean in August and September, which is peak hurricane season. Cruises to Jamaica tend to be longer, with many itineraries falling into the five- to seven-night range, so you’ll need more than a long weekend for this vacation. Ships sailing here tend to be larger and stacked with onboard entertainment and activities. Jamaica cruise itineraries often depart from Texas or Florida and include other Caribbean islands. Some include more adventures, sailing to Central America or through the Panama Canal.

Royal Caribbean Cruise Compass Jewel of the Seas 12 Days 2022

cruise compass

These are the daily planners (cruise compass) for our 7 day cruise. Please note that unfortunately I did not get the Cruise Compass for embarkation day. For Day 2 I went down to guest services and picked up a printed copy. On Day 3 onwards our cabin steward provided the Cruise Compass in our cabin each evening.

Vision of the Seas Shows and Theater

Yes, the APP is not always correct and this QR copy will be the exact copy of the paper one. Our family sailed on Oasis of the Seas for a 7 day Bahamas and CocoCay itinerary from Cape Liberty in May 2022. The daily activities, shows and opening hours of restaurants and venues are available on the Royal Caribbean App as well as on the daily Cruise Compass. Here are the full 14 days of Cruise Compass paper planners from my transatlantic cruise sailing from Barcelona, Spain to Fort Lauderdale on Rhapsody of the Seas in November 2023.

Royal Caribbean Cruise Compass Jewel of the Seas 12 Days 2022

The first page has an overview of what to expect that day, including where the ship will be (in port or at sea), a weather report, and various specials, offers and events that are highlighted. By far, the weather report in the upper right hand corner is the most useful information on this page. Some events are not repeated while other activities can change daily, so it is in your best interest to track what is happening so you do not miss any of it. Additionally, there's an hour-by-hour schedule of everything happening on the ship, including live performances, children's programming and dining options. Each day's newsletter also includes opening and closing times for all of the ship's facilities, a list of onboard services, medical contacts and information for each port of call, including law enforcement.

Most of the activities listed on the Cruise Compass newsletter will apply on ships in the Voyager Class. These ships include Voyager of the Seas, Explorer of the Seas, Adventure of the Seas, and Navigator of the Seas. Royal Caribbean used to hand out paper copies of the Cruise Compass every night, detailing the next day’s activities. Now, they’re moving towards digital, offering paper copies only if you ask for them. In addition to a listing of everything happening onboard, guests can add specific events directly to their own digital calendar for easy tracking. As you make reservations or add activities directly from the daily Cruise Compass to your calendar, your schedule is automatically updated.

Day 12 – Sea Day (Thanksgiving Day)

Also on Brilliance they had printed off people ship taken pictures for you to look at and buy, complete waste of money, paper and ink. You should be able to use the ships free ‘intranet’ , same portal you connect to use the RCL APP on the ship which is no charge to use. You pay to have access to the internet to stream or surf the web.

In the past, Royal Caribbean provided a paper copy of the Cruise Compass. This paper version would be delivered each evening to passengers’ staterooms, outlining the following day’s events. This is the ship’s daily newsletter and is a guide to all the onboard activities, entertainment, and dining options, as well as any important announcements. There is a new copy every day that contains times and locations for activities, special events, show times and more.

We recently sailed on the Mariner of the Seas for a 2 Night Weekend Bahamas cruise from Port Canaveral, Florida. The Daily Planner is Royal Caribbean’s daily activities schedule, and is delivered each night to your cabin during turn-down service as well as digitally on the Royal Caribbean App app. All the onboard activities for the following day will be listed, such as events, showtimes, drink specials, entertainment, and other things happening around the ship. I love sharing my best cruise tips with you, along with reviews of cruise destinations, shore excursions, cruise ships and cruise lines. Freestyle Travelers is the ultimate resource for cruisers seeking to explore the seas.

Day 1 – Embarkation Day: Miami

It points out the cool stuff on different ships, like Allure of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas, and Wonder of the Seas. With the Compass in hand, you’re all set to have the best time, making every moment count. Royal Caribbean might stop making the Cruise Compass one day, but it seems like they know the app isn’t quite there yet. The Cruise Compass is easier to glance through, with a nice daily overview and tips. I’ve been on plenty of Royal Caribbean cruises, learning the ins and outs. By reading an old Cruise Compass, you can prepare yourself for activities and events that you might want to participate in, such as themed dance parties, sporting events and anything inbetween.

(Paid Wi-Fi isn’t required to do this.) The digital version is in the same format as the paper planners, and you can zoom in and out on the images. The option for paper IS available on many/most of the ships, and will likely return fleetwide when enough people complain about it. The smaller ships are, by default, older ships -- they were built before the technology existed for the wayfinder displays that have been put in the newer/larger ships. At some point in time the displays might be installed in the older/smaller ships... I also don't carry wallet or anything around ship but the card.

Note that Royal Caribbean ships ask cruisers to sign out pool towels using their SeaPass card to avoid lost or stolen towels. There is only one station on Vision of the Seas, located at the main pool area, which can be a little inconvenient if you're lounging at the Solarium. Around lunchtime on sea days, there is usually a poolside event. When there's not an event going on, you can usually hear live music throughout the afternoon.

It also provides details about the amazing ports you’ll visit and so much more. It’s easy to pack into your bag or pocket so that you don’t skip a beat! Plan your cruise your way and enjoy everything your ship has to offer. The Cruise Compass is placed in your stateroom each evening for the following day.

It also highlights any special offers or discounts available for dining, drinks, onboard merchandise purchases and even shopping in port. If you have cruised with Royal Caribbean before, you will know that they have the Royal Caribbean App, and this app actually includes details of all the daily activities, venue opening times, etc. Late-night activities are available on sea days, and morning till late night on port days.

The Cruise Compass is Royal Caribbean's daily onboard newsletter, found on each ship. Every evening, passengers receive the following day's newsletter in their staterooms. The app does indeed include all the information that the cruise compass does, but the way it is presented is very different. To download a copy, just look for the large QR codes located at strategic points around the ship. You’ll also see them on the racks where you used to be able to pick spare copies of the cruise compass.

Depending on the ship, there are also other ways to see activities, such as on a designated channel on the in-room television and/or via the wayfinders in the hallways. For years, the printed Cruise Compass was the only option, but Royal Caribbean's app has also offered a list of activities. The option to download a copy of the printed Cruise Compass is a new way to learn about what's happening onboard the ship.

Head to the adult-only Solarium, where it's a whole lot quieter. The daily schedule usually begins with a variety of fitness and recreation activities in the morning, such as water aerobics or morning stretch, and a poolside movie. Later in the morning and into the afternoon, the cruise director's crew hosts several line dance classes, either poolside or in the Centrum. These Vision of the Seas activities are particularly popular with younger passengers and families.
